خلاصه داستان : نوبوماسا تسوبوی، صاحب کارخانه‌ای در ژاپن، وقتی می‌فهمد دخترش یوشیمی به‌دلیل بیماری قلبی فقط ده سال دیگر زنده است، دنیایش فرو می‌ریزد. او و همسرش یوکو که حاضر به پذیرش این سرنوشت نیستند، تصمیم می‌گیرند با وجود نداشتن هیچ پیش‌زمینه‌ای در پزشکی، تحقیق درباره قلب مصنوعی را آغاز کنند.

Nobumasa Tsuboi (Yo Oizumi) runs a small factory in a small town. He has a daughter Yoshimi Tsuboi (Riko Fukumoto) who suffers from a congenital heart disease. A doctor tells Nobumasa Tsuboi that his daughter will only live for about 10 more years. Nobumasa Tsuboi is devastated that his daughter won't live past the ago of 20. Nobumasa Tsuboi and his wife Yoko Tsuboi (Miho Kanno) cannot accept the diagnosis. Even though he has no medical knowledge or experience, Nobumasa Tsuboi begins to study about artificial hearts.

Makoto Tanaka is 40-years-old and has remarried. His wife is Nanae and they care for 2 daughters from Nanae's prior marriage. Makoto tries to have an ordinary family. Nanae then becomes pregnant. Afterwards, things begin to change among the family members.
